UNITED V. SYDENHAM AND ADDINGTON.
The wicket provided for the game between United and Sydenham and Addington. was also a good • one. The suburban players batted first, but made very little headway against 'the effective bowling of United, wiio;e fielding, too, was clean and smart. The innings produced only 113 runß, of which total Fowke was responsible for 42. Fowke's batting was free, his strokes oeing well timed, and his score included eight" 4's. Wall and Malone were til© only other double-figure scorers, the former making 1( very quickly, while Malone, who was at the wickets a very long time in compiling 16, played a stubbornly defensive game. Frankish secured the best .average of the United bowlers, taking five wickets for 46 rims..- H. M. Reeves and tl. D. Harman, who 'opened the first innings for United, commenced very cautiously to the bowling of Phillips and Malone?, Phillips's bowline, especially, was. treated w>th respect for th: arst four" oi 1 five overs, ,j\\t after that runs came at a more rapid rate.
