MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
Tlie .weekly meeting of the St John's Literary Association, was held, on Tuesday night, in the schoolroom, when there was a large attendance.. The editor read a Journal, containing letters, locals, poems, etc by the members of the Association. '
The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Benevolent Lodge of Oddfellows was held on Oct. 10, Bro H. G. Manning, N.G., presiding. There was a large attendance. The sick visitors reported four members on the sick list. Two candidates were initiated. An invitation to nlay a game of cards ac Woolston was received from the. Hiorns, P.G., tendered his resignation as trustee', which was accepted with regret, and Bro J. H. Manders, P.G., was elected to the position. An expression of sympathy and condolence with BroC. F. King, Prov. D.G.M., in his bereavement, was passed, and the meeting closed. •
