EIRE.

A fire occurred at the Irwell flax-mill on Wednesday evening last, by which a scutching machine, a dressing machine, a chaff-cutter and a quantity of dressed hemp were destroyed. The fire is supposed to have occurred through one of the employees accidentally upsetting a candle, which fired some of the hemp, and- before anything could be done the place was one mass of flames. All the employes immediately set- to work to save the flour mill, which was only a few feet away, and this they succeeded in doing.
