THE ATTITUDE OF THE PORTE. THE BRITISH ULTIMATUM. United Press Association — By Electric Telegraph — Copyrighu CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 14. The Porto has issued a circular to the Powers refusing to withdraw the Turkish troops and Bashi Bazouks from Candia. It has, however, undertaken to disarm the Mussulmans on condition that their weapons are handed to the Turkish authorities. CANDIA, Sept. 15. Admiral Noel has warned Edhern Pasha to withdraw the women and children from the town, if he anticipates any difficulty in complying with the ultimatum. Edhern has arrested twenty of the ringleaders in the recent disturbances. The Cretans, unanimously demand a definite settlement of the questions of a Governor and they occupation of the island. .-•. The Turks have destroyed the fortified houses overlooking the British camp , in Candia. CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 15. Tewfik Pasha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, after an interview with the Foreign Ambassadors, advised the Porte to peremptorily order Edhem Pasha to comlply with the British demands with reference to Candia.
