ROWING.

The annual general meeting of members of the V.M.C.A. Bowing Club was held in the V M.C.A. Booms last evening. There .was a fair attendance. Mr A. W. Beaven, president, presided. The annual report was read, showing tnat during the year thirty new members had been elected. The fleet now consisted of fourteen boats, the latest addition being a racing convertible pair-oar or doublesculler, built by Mr G. Norton, of Wellington. The club had been represented at the Akaroa, Little Biver, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi and Christchurch regattas, and also at the Championship Begatta at Dunedin, winning altogether the sum of .£l9 in prize money. It was to be regretted that the club races had not been so successful as in previous years. The committee desired to thank the ladies who had provided refreshments and had assisted in the opening day festivities, Mr J. A. Bedpath, who had provided for the carting of racing boats during the season, and also Messrs A. Sargeant and S. Waters, jun., for acting as delegates in Wellington at the New Zealand Amateur Bowing Association meetings. The balance-sheet showed receipts .£IBO 15s Bd, expenditure .£l7B 6s, assets .£650 1b Bd, liabilities .£557 14s 7d, leaving a credit ba'ance of .£92 7s Id. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected : — Patron, the Bishop of Christchurch ; president, Mr A. W. Beaven ; vice-presidents, Messrs G. J. Smith, E. Struthers, J." C. Prudhoe, G. Callehder, B. A. Bradbury and the Bey \V. Beau; captain, Mr B. P. Crosbie ; deputy-captain, Mr H. H. Smith j treasurer, Mr W. Boxburgh; honorary secretary, Mr W. S. Mitchell ; assistant honorary secretary, Mr J. Johnston ; committee/Messrs L. P. White, H. Kilner, B. Jewiss, F. Musgrove, A. Menzies and J. Finlayson; auditors, Messrs H. P. West and J. Callender. It was resolved to hold a concert in the Choral Hall on Oct. 13, and a sale of work at the end of the month. A letter was read from the Secretary of the Union Bowing Club with regaid to the state of the river Avon. The letter was referred to the Committee. Votes of thanks were passed to the subcommittee which had organised the concert last year, to the Secretary, Assis-tant-Secretary and Treasurer, the outgoing Committee, the regatta crews and to the Chairman.
