CHRISTCHURCH CENTRAL MISSION.
This mission held its anniversary services on Sunday, Sept. 11. The attendance at each service was good. On Wednesday, Sepfc. 14, a "social" was held, when the building was crowded. Tlie programme was entirely of a religious character. Several anthems were sung by the choir, under the co'nductorship of Mr C. Broun, who received during the evening a presentation from the choir in recognition of his services for the last two years. Solos were given by Miss M M'Neish and Messrs Broun, E. Jones and R Spcirs, a recitation by Miss M Neish, and the sontr " Home, Lads, Home " (written by Judge Ward) by Mr Broun's class. Airs Good presided at the organ and piano. Short, encouraging addresses were given by Messrs D M'Lennan (chairman), J. Ford, R. Spiers and Spratt. The work of the mission altogether is very hopeful, there being a credit balance in every department. It was announced that in a letter recently received Pautor Birch wa» stated to have recovered from his protracted illness, and had resumed bis duties. ■ ■
