ASHBURTON.
There was a. large attendance of farmers and dealers at the Ashlnirton Yards yesterday, when some 3000 sheep and 60 or 70 head of cattle were yarded. The entry of sheep consisted of a larye nudber of fairconditioned cross-bred/ ewes and wethers (which, although offered in the butchers' pens as ftt sheep, were by no means good), cross-bred hoggets and ewes in lamb. Prices for fat> sheep were stationary at last week's rates, but for ewes in lamb and hoggets there was a decidedly better demand. The following were prices:— -Cross-bred ewes and we there 10s 6d to 12s 10d,''fat merino wethers at. 15s, do fair quality lls 3di crossbred ewes in lamb 8s sd, cross-bred hoggets 6s 6d to 9s sd. Cattle— A few really good beasts were yarded, which scld well, but the bulk of the stores were poor, and there was no great demand for them. Fat steers and heifers made from £5 to £8 15s, small sorts from £3 to £5, vealers from 15s to 20s.
