*i. X lal , match for the championship of the Chnstchurch Golf Club was played between E Wilder and R. Kitto, onthe*Hagley Park links yesterday morning, with the result that Kitto won by five up and four to Play. The play was all square at the ninth hole, each having gob there in forty strokes. Kitto, by winning the next five holes, secured the game and the championship, llis score for the fourteen holes played was sixty-three, Wilder finishing six strokes behind with sixty-nine. For the first nine holes the play on the ipatf, of both competitors was good. Kitto maintained his standard of play to the finish, but Wilder, breaking down at the tenth hole, was unable to make up lost ground, each hole in the latter part of the- game beingi won by one stroke. Kitto s win is the outcome of straight driving and all round steadiness He made one phenomenal stroke at the tenth hole, when, with the iron, he put the ball down from a distance of more than twenty yards.
