ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
An inquest wfts held yesterday afternoon before Mr R. Beetham, coroner, at the house of Joseph Buurows, Waimakariri river-bed, touching the death of Edward Burrows, aged six years. Mr W. Keith was chosen foreman* of the jury. After hearing the evidence of the fatter and sister of the boy, the jury returned a .verdict of death from the effects of measles, and added that the father and sister had -done all that was possible for the boy. ■ Yesterday morning, Miss Maud Smith;, aged about nineteen, daughter of Mr James Smith, llangiora, met with rather a serious accident. She was raising the lower sash of an upstairs window, and it went iip with more suddenness tli^n she expected, with thk result that she overbalanced and fell out dt tlie window to the ground'. She was picked HI- and was found to be suffering from coricusdon of the spine. It is not though!: that t'.i^ injury will be of a pern-.ancn;- 'e.i<n.'. A'.r.
