The Wellington members of the team which is to represent New Zealand at the Federal rifle matches in New South Wales next month .will be: . Lieutenant-Com-mander Kirk (Petone Navals), Privates A. B&llinger and Hale (Guards), and Private Howe (City Rifles). Chief Petty-Oflicer Williams (Wellington Navals), and ColourSergeant Hawthorne (Civil Service Rifles) were asked to go, but were unable to obtain leave of absence. A meeting of the members of the Woodend Erne Club was held on Friday." The. balance-sheet was read, showing a credit balance of £6 19s Bd. Arrangements were made for holding the annual field, day on Sept. 22. The first competition by members of the Kaiapoi Rifle Corps took place on Saturday for trivate Balch 's trophy. The ranges were 200, 300 and 500 yards, seven shots at each range. The following were, the scores: — Sergeant Simpson (scr), 92 ; Private N. G. Robilliard (scr), 91 ; Private W.
