A TOUGH MORSEL.

A few days ago a piece of Australian bluegum 2\ inches by li inches was exhibited at Auckland, the history attached to which is somewhat curious. It appears that a mare belonging to Mr W. Bowman was suffering from a supposed internal trouble, and Mr W. Rosser, veterinary surgeon, was called in. The result of his treatment for ten days was (says the Herald) that the piece of wood was successfully removed from the animal. How the animal came to swallow such a tough morsel, and under what circumstances, is not known.
