OCCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
: + — DROWNING CASE AT BROOKSIDE. On "Wednesday a male child of Mr George- Trapnell-jn-oprietor of the Brookside Roller MillsfjWjlts accidentally djjjijfcrned in the mill-dam, Tbetween ill an"<sN& a.m.' Mr and Mrs Trapnell went to Christchurch. in the morning, leaving their eldest boy (five years) and the deceased (aged twenty months) in charge of a servant lad (aged thirteen years).. The latter, while preparing some dinner, missed the child, and on searching found him quite dead in about four to five feet of water in the mill-dam. An inquest was held yesterday, at noon, at Brookside. before Mr A. E. Inwood, J.P., ActingCoroner, and a jury, of whom Mr John Sterling, was chosen foreman. After hearing the evidence and the statement of Dr Henry A. Reed, who had made a postmortem examination, a verdict of "Accidentally drowned " was returned. •
