Tanner, J.P.) r Drunkenness and Assaulting a Con--1 stable.— Frederick Muschamp was charged ' with having been drunk the previous evening, and with having assaulted Constable M'Connell while in the execution of his duty. The accused admitted having been drunk, but said he remembered nothing . else. Constable M'Connell said that the > accused had got into a squabble with some $ marines, and he told him to go away I quietly home ; but he refused, and struck r witness on the face. In the lock-up he j struck witness again. The accused was 5 fined 5s for drunkenness and 40s for the assault, in default seven days' imprisonment. . Assault. — Henry Taylor was charged • with having on May 22 assaulted William I Augustus Callaghan, for whom Mr Johnt ston appeared. The defendant denied havt ing struck the complainant, but after I hearing the evidence the Bench fined him t 20s and costs, 355.
