The Government has received a dispatch from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, covering a circular from the Chamber of Commerce, at Halifax^ complaining of the use of tar in marking sheep. These marks pass into the finished goods, causing considerable loss and damage. It is suggested that some other medium than tar should be used. The Premier will address a public meeting here' on Wednesday next.
