Death from Burning.

WELLINGTON, June 11.
An inquest began to-day on the body of the woman Louie Smith, who died from severe burns sustained last week, in connection with which three young men are now in custody on a charge of having caused the injuries. Medical evidence to the effect that death was the result of shock from burns, was given. Tbe police said that deceased had stated that the two Kennedys were in a house which is occupied by a Chinaman. While she was going out at the passage some one threw a lighted kerosene lamp which struck the wall and set fire to her clothes. Smith was badly burned from the hip upwards. Ge Chung, with whom deceased had been living, said that a number of people were in the house on the night the woman was bnrnt, including Robert Wilson, now in custody. Andrew and Joseph Kennedy, also in custody, came to the house and forced their way in. A row took place between Wilson and Kennedy, and witnees said that he saw Andrew Kennedy throw a lamp at Smith. The inquest was adjourned till Monday next.
