TARANAKI PETROLEUM.
A telegram from New, Plymouth says:—■Gre it interest was taken in town on Saturday about petroloum, and a considerable number of shares were applied for. Indications of petroleum are being found in all directions, the excitement in town causing jaany country people to search for indicstioßS Messrs Samuel and Fair are now in JUukland, and will leave for Sydney, per Botomahana, immediately. The company iff- to be formed in Sydnoy in about three weeks. Several bores will be started aimultaneoualy.
