WANGANUI, June 7,

A sad and sudden death occurred laat evening, when Mr Garland W. R. Woon, a vory old resident, fell into the river owing to failure of the heart. Mr Woon waa for Eixtcen yeara Clerk of the Resident Magistrate's and District Courts here, but was retrenched in 1892. He was the eldest eon of the lata Eev W. Woon, Wesleyan Methodist missionary at Tonga and Friendly Islands. Deceased was the founder of the first newspaper in New Plymouth, the Taranaki Herald.

A young man named Henry Tobeck had h.B left elbow fractured on Thursday through being thrown out of a trap on the Lincoln Bridge. He waß taken to the hospital and attended to.
