A DESTRUCTIVE WATERSPOUT. ("Speciaii to Fbesb Association.] BERLIN, Jun? 7. A water-spout burst and swept the Wurtemburg district, causing a considerable amount of damage. Thirty-two people were drowned iv the floods and a number of others are missing, Fifty people were drowned and forty houses ruined by the waterspout in Wurtemberg. A 'FURIOUS GALE. BRISBANE, June 8. A sad and sudden death occurred laat evening, when Mr Garland W. R. Woon, a vory old resident, fell into the river owing to failure of the heart. Mr Woon waa for Eixtcen yeara Clerk of the Resident Magistrate's and District Courts here, but was retrenched in 1892. He was the eldest eon of the lata Eev W. Woon, Wesleyan Methodist missionary at Tonga and Friendly Islands. Deceased was the founder of the first newspaper in New Plymouth, the Taranaki Herald.

A young man named Henry Tobeck had h.B left elbow fractured on Thursday through being thrown out of a trap on the Lincoln Bridge. He waß taken to the hospital and attended to.

About a quarter to one this afternoon, as a spring cart was being driven through Cathedral Square, one of the shafts, which wa3 defective, broke off close to the body of the vehicle. The horae became restive and broke the other ahaf fc. The driver escaped unhurt.
