The Canterbury Land Board met on ' Thursday ; present — Messrs J. W. A. Marchant (commissioner of Crown Lands) D. M'Millan, B. Meredith, A. 0. Pringle and the Hon W. C. Walker. | The f oltowing applications were granted : — Arowhenua Village Settlement : James - Douglas, section 805, block 11., lr lip • ' Mary Spillane, section 823, block 11., lr ; Simon B. Norton, section 755, block 11., lr. I Six mortgages under the Advances to | Settlers Act, 1894, were approved of, i subject to the usual conditions. j ! It was decided to re-offer forfeited lots | 18 and 2, blocks XII. and XVI., Lowry '. Peaks Surrey District. 1 It was resolved $o invite tenders for a J yearly license to occupy the Crown land . in the Westerfield district, reserved under ' the Naval and Military Settlers and : Volunteers Land Act for grazing pnrpoaes > only, at an upset rental of Is 3d per acre < per annum. Mr W. Bainbridge was i granted permieaion to obtain timber for j fencing and domestic use from the Waiau 1 Bush section, Cheviot Estate. The Com- I missioner of Crown Lands was authorised to consent on behalf of the Beard to mortgages under the Advances to Settlera Act. After dealing with routine business the '. Board adjourned till Thursday, June 13, : at 11 a.m. !
