County Councils.

WAIMATE.

The ordinary meeting of this Council was held on Thursday; present— Messrß El worthy (chairman), Hardie, Manchester, Morton and Lyall. Mr Rhodes sent an apology for absence. The Clerk to the Council (iir D. Jackson) sent in his resignation, which was accepted with regret by three votes to two, the minority desiring that Mr Jackson should be asked to reconsider his decision. Messrs Davis and Pinlayson applied for the uee of a reserve at Redcliff, and it was decided to invite application b for the land referred to. The amount of costß, £40 18s 3d, in ths casa of the Counoil v. M'Lean, was ordered to be paid. The Commissioner of Taxea stated that he could not supply separate values of each section in the Waihoa irrigation district, owned by Mr M'Lean, as his land was assessed in one area. The Overseer was asked to report on applications from Mr W. Foley (8t Andrews), and Mr R. Jaokeon (Waimate) for the making of Bmall culverts near their properties. It waß resolved to oall for tenders for shingling Sherwin'a Road. It was agreed to proceed with the formation of roads to Bmall runs in Upper Waihao, the work to be done by the unemployed at sohedule rates. The following tenders were accepted :— O. Wilson ___22 10a, J. O'Donoghue J630 10s 8d and R. White £4,9 9a. After passing accounts amounting to £-81 9a, the Council rose.
