THE OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD'S DREDGE.

The Otago Daily Times says that Mr Gillies, the secretary of the Harbour Board, on Thursday received a telegram intimating that the Lyttelton Harbour Board had confirmed the resolution to charter Dredge 222 for another term. It appears that the Ljttelton Board, howover, gave notico to some ten or twelve of the men employed on the dredge that their services are to be dispensed with, presumably with the view of employing Lyttelton men. Many of the man who have received notice have been in the Otago Harbour Board's service for from fourteen to twenty years. The majority of them are married, and with large families dependent on them. In addition to this, several of them have taken their families to Lyttelton.
