A quaint custom is still observed at the Bishop of London's palace at Fulham. The lodge-keeper each morning knocks the domestics up by tapping at their bedroom windows with a long pole. He not only haß to knock, but is required to continue doing bo until they give visible proof that they have quitted their beds. Thia ia a verbatim copy of a playbill which waß distributed in a San Francisco I theatre not long ago: "'Hamlet, a play jby William Shakespeare ; revised and reI written by Abram Abrams. Esq."
