Two others have to be chosen. ' The team, which is regarded as weak, leaves to-morrow night. < A meeting of the committee of the New - Zealand Rugby Union was held to-night. The meeting was called to consider the < question of forming a New Zealand ! Referees' Association. Mr Durham, president of the Queensland Referees' Associa- : tion, was present by invitation, and ex- ; plained the constitution and working of ! the organisation, pointing out the advan- ' tagea which accrued from having a regularly organised body or referees, who - could meet at regular intervals and dißcuss : their own rulings and points connected with the rules, thus securing uniformity - of decisions, as well as giving status and moral support to referees, and enabling them better to regulate and control games. , After discussion as to rules, it was decided that, in the opinion of the delegates present, a Referees' Association should be formed, with branches in connection with each ' affiliated union, and that Messrs Campbell, Firth, Coupland and Hoben Bhould be a sub-committee to draw up suggested rules : for immediate submission to local unions, in order that they may be considered at their annual meetings. It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union on Saturday, April 21, to permit of all unions holding their annual meetings beforehand.

The following team will represent Rakaia Football Club First Fifteen against Southbridge First-, at Soathbridge, on Easter Monday : — Bruce, Harvey, Laraman, Bray, Dart, Hewlett, M'Nair, Street (2), W. Shannon, Boucher, Withell, Reilly (2) and Santy; emergencies— Robinson, Petrie, Snell, Miller nnd J. Shannon. The following will represent Kaiapoi Second Fifteen v. Oxford, at Oxford,"on Eaater Monday s — Pegler, Robilliard, M'Gregor, Pearce, Templeton, Lynskey ' (5), Simpson (2), Bentley, Bate, Driscoll, Horefall and Roll. The following team will play for Merivale against Melrose, at Wellington, on Saturday :— Backs, H. Lawrence, J. Fraaer, W. Lang, P. Menzies, A. White (captain) and | A. Cook; forwards, H. Hey ward, J. Mar- [ riner, T. Moor, F. Ohilds, G. Benfcley,D. Fraßer, C. Rides, _J. Rastzick and J. Tompkins. The team will leave by the Te Anau for Wellington to-day. At a meeting of the Committee of the East Christchurch Football Club, held on Tuesday evening, Mr A. E. Craddock was elected delegate to the Canterbury Rugby ' Union vice Mr G. W. Forbeß, resigned. I The arrangements for the match on Saturday next with the Ponefce team are now compete. Palace cars will run from Cathedral Square to the Old Show Grounds, Sydtubam, returning after the match. Mr W.
