• ♦ DISTEICT MEETING. The district meeting aat again yesterday, the whole of the morning session being devoted to the examination of Mr A. W. Aeheroft, a candidate for the ministry, recommended by the Woodville circuit. The Rev J. Hoßking conducted the examination. Id the afternoon the report of the examiners for the past year was received and adopted. The Key J. Benning was passed on to his fourth year of probation. A vote of tbanka was accorded to the examiners for their services, and the Beva S. Macfarlane, J. Hosking and A. Peters were appointed for the ensuing year. The meeting then considered matters in reference to ,the proposed loan fund. Eventually ifc was decided to abandon the present scheme, and recommend the appli-, cation of the amounts promised to the liquidation of trust debts in the various eircuifce. On the recommendation of the Stationing and Finance Committee it was decided to agree to the division of the Woodville circuit, the new circuit to be called the Pahiatua circuit. The meeting then went into committee to consider the third draft of stations, the remainder of the session being occupied therewith. Last evening, Mr Ashcroft preached his trial sermon before a fairly numerous congregation. At the meeting held subsequently it was decided to receive him as a candidate on the usual terms, and also similarly to entertain an application from Mr J. W. Griffin,
