SWIMMING.

RICHMOND AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB. A meeting of the Committee of th< Richmond Amateur Swimming Club wa held in the schoolroom on Saturday even ing ; present — Messrs •P. J. Craddoel (captain, in the chair), F. Ward, C. I Bradford, A. P. Gibson and G, Miln (honorary secretary). The matter o appointing a selector of members to repre sent the Club in championship races wa considered, and deferred till a future meet ing. The Secretary reported that Me3sr S. K. Bassett and J. Abercrombie (vice presidents) had given a donation o £2 2s and £1 Is A respectively toward the Club's prize v fund. A heart; vote of thanks was passed to Mesar Basaett and Abercrombie, and the secre tary was instructed to inform then that their prizes would be given to thi first and second men in the 50yds Vice President's Handicap at the annual sport on Feb. 10. The matter of selecting members to represent the Club in thi 100yds Championship of Canterbury, to b< swum at the Club's annual sports, wa brought up. The Secretary stated tha Messrs H. L. Armitage, J. Y. Daly, W Bassett and another member intendec competing in the Club's colours and tha Messrs S. L. Partridge, H. Bullivant, A E. Roper and H. Dunnage (Bast Christ church), P. Cleary, S. J. Denham ant A. C. Macbeth (Christcburch), and Uptoi (Ashburton), would in all probability b< among the competitors for the race, whicl promised to be a splendidly contested one It was eventually decided to leav< the matter of selecting the CJub'i representatives over till next meeting. I was reported that the tickets for th< annual sports on Saturday, Feb. 10, wen going off rapidly, and tbat the sporti promised to be very successful. Seyei members were elected. After disposinf of a large amount of business in connectioi -with the annual sports on Saturday, Feb 10, the meeting closed. EAST CHBISTCHTFRCH CLUB. The final heat of the 52yd& >Handicat under the auspices of the East Chrißt church Amateur Swimming Club wai swum on Saturday evening, and resulted ai follows :— S. C. Baron 12aec, 1 » A. Duncai Bsec, 2; H. Hiorns llsec, 3. S. G. Nortoi 9sec also started. Won by a foot, a yarc between second and third. Time-*42sec RECEPTION TO THE CHRISTCHURCE CLUB'S POLO TEAM; The members of the Christchurch Amateui Swimming Club's waterpolo team, whicl won the water polo championship of Nev Zealand at the meeting at Auckland; wil bo accorded a reception by the Canterbury swimming clubß at the Clarendon Hote to-morrow evening.
