[Per Pbess association.! NAPIER, Oct. 10. There is excellent weather for the opening day of the Napier Park Eaoing Club's Meeting. The attendance is good. Forme has been scratched for the Sapling Stakes. Bosefeldt, Dreamland, and Dingo have been scratched for the Criterion Stakes. (Whitaker) 2 Vasco, 9st (Bedmond) 3 j Recruit was scratched. Natatrix was very fractious, and after breaking away a oouple of times, her owner elected not to start her. Quilt made most of the running with The Joker, butT Bose came very fast over the last hurdle and got within half a length of the leader. Vasco was third, Maid of Lome, Jack, Auckland, The Joker, Oddfellow, and Avis following in that order. On the machine 591 ; on the winner 114. Dividend £<k 13a. Time— 2min 58sec. CBITEBION STAKES HANDICAP, of 50 sovs, One mile. Mystic, 7sfc 41b ... (Connop) 1 Flaneur, 7st 21b (G. Eeid) 2 ComOi7st4lb (Gallagher) 3 Mystic led from start to finish, eventually winning easily. Flaneur was second only on sufferance, Como pulling up and getting third place. Zaccho was fourth, Fleta fifth, and St Malo last. Time— imin 49fsec. Dividend £2 16s. It was a good race, Midas led until the burn waß reached, where Bosefeldt took sommandand was never beaded, beating ill her opponents in the straight, including her stable companion Us, who was last at the back and came with a dash at the Snish.
