Rangiora.

The quarterly meeting of the Kangiora Licensing Committee was held at noon today ; present — Mr A. Parsons (Chairman), and Messrs G. J. Leech, A. Ivory and C. King. The police report was satisfactory, it being noted that the Plough Hotel had been considerably enlarged, and improvements effected to the Club Hotel. Constable Costin asked permission to explain that his absencefromthelicenaingmeeting on Friday was due to his presence beingr required at the Chriatchnroh Police Court in connection with the Oxford shooting case. Mr Leech, Chairman of the Mandeville and Kangiora Committee, said he wbb sure when making the remarks he did on the matter, that the constable's absence was not due to any want of courtesy to the Committee. The explanation was entirely satisfactory, and he was glad Constable Coatin had taken the opportunity to publicly make it. This concluded the business.
