Amberley.— A meeting for the purpose of forming a Mutual Improvement Literary Society was held in the Town Board office, Amberley, on Saturday night. There waa a good attendance, and Mr Greig was voted to the chair. The meeting having drawn up a code of rules, elected the following officers : — President, Mr F. Courage ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs Greig, Burke and M'Gregor; Committee, Messrs Dickie, Thorn, E, Chamberlain, J. Greig and J. M'Gregor; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr C. Johnston. The Committee was authorised to arrange a programme for the ensuing meetings, and report at a general meeting, of whioh due notice will be given.
