At a meeting of steamship owners it was decided to follow the lead of the Melbourne owner%*rith regard to reductions, but simultaneous aotion was impossible owing to differences in the currency of artiolee. It is understood that the Union Steamship Company of New Zealand will only apply the reductions to the Taßmanian and not to the New Zealand trade. SYDNEY, June 20. A ballot of the seamen in port resulted in a unanimous refusal to accept the reduction in wages. IPbr Press Asspciation.] WELLINGTON, June 20. A meeting of unemployed was held at the door of the Government Buildings this morning. About a hundred were present, and resolutions were passed urging the Government to push on public works and provide employment. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Premier. The Chairman, who is known aa "Professor" when acting aB a phrenologist said it was to be distinctly understood that no^ blame wag cast on the Government, which he considered the best in Australasia, but they were taking this means of letting Ministers know the extent to which the want of work had reached.
