[Sfxcial to Pbess Association.] SYDNEY, Junk 18. The efforts to bring about an understanding with regard to wages are futile, and the Engineers' Association has determined to resist the reduction. SYDNEY, Junk 19. The Secretary of the Associated Colieries has written to the Secretary of the Northern Miners' Association, asking for a conference ab an early date to discuss questions affecting the coal trade, and especially the advisableness of a reduction in price from January next. MELBOURNE, June 18. The Seamen's Union will ballot next week on the question of the reduction of wages. MELBOURNE, Junk 19. In taking the ballot on the question of the reduction of wages, the seamen in each Colony will speak with one voice on the proposal. It is expected that the result of the ballot will be known about the middle of the week.
