Primitive Methodist Conference.

The Primitive Methodist Conference opened its annual session at Ashburton on Thursday. .... • v After the retiring President's address had been read, the|following officers for the year were elected :— President, the Eev J. Guy; Vica-President, Mr J. Booth; Secretaries, the Bey W. Woollas and Mr C. E. Bellringer; Readers, the Eev W. S. Potter and Mr D. Goldie; Letter Writers, the Eev J. Sharp and Mr W/. Harris ; Auditors, Messrs Burgess and Gibson ; Doorkeeper, Mr Watkins. . ' The President-elect gave a short address thanking the: Conference for the honour it had done him. in electing him, and. expressed his hearty sympathy with the cause of Methodist union in New Zealand. In the evening a publio reception was held in the church. , The Mayor of Ashburton and the members of the Borough Council were present, and welcomed the Conference, as did also several other gentlemen. ■ The first draft of stations was read as follows:— New Plymouth, J. The Conference on meeting yesterday morning was officially informed of the sudden death of Mr Charles Feltham, one of the members of the Conference, and adjourned till the afternoon, when a number of deputations were received.
