The burial will take place on Thursday at Kensal Green. The Labour Unions have passed resolutions regretting the Cardinal's death. Monsignor Gilbert Virtue and Bishop Bagshawe, of Nottingham, also are mentioned as likely to succeed Cardinal Manning. PAKIS, Jan. 17. The Gaulois describes Cardinal Manning as a fearless upholder o£ new Socialism. General sympathy is expressed with Senhor Carvalho, but his hiding the loan from his colleagues is considered an act of great imprudence. A Commission is being appointed to enquire into the matter. Marquia Dafay, who is implicated in the scandal, was arrested, and released on bail. Senhor Ta Terria has formed a new Ministry. STOCKHOLM, Jan. 17. Influenza. Fifty-six thousand people are suffering from influenza in Sweden and Norway, the number having doubled during the past week. The mortality in Scandinavia is the highest in Europe. SOFIA, Jan. 17. Bulgaria. The report of an attempt to poison Prince Ferdinand ia confirmed. His meals are now examined beforehand i by chemists. Bulgarian refugees in Eussia and Servia are Btill engaged in hatching plots. MEXICO, Jan. 17. Rebellion in Mexico. The Eebel General Graza has fortified Ascension where he awaits an attack by the Government troops.
