» The Loyal Addington Lodge, No. 6544, held its half-yearly meeting in the Oddfellows' Hall, Lincoln xoad, on Monday, Dee. 28, N.G. Bro W. J. Alpe presiding. It was decided to allow the matter of forming an ambulance class in connection with the Lodge to Btand over until next quarter night, as it was thought the class would be a greater success during the winter months. Correspondence was received from the Secretary to the Friendly Societies Conference on the subject of the proposed amalgamated Benefit Societies Benevolent Fund. After considerable discussion it was resolved, on the motion of P.P.G.M. Bro Clark— "That the Lodge should agree to the proposal." The election of officers resulted as follows:— N. 6., Bro E. Kinsman ; V.G., Bro George "Whiting; E.S., Bro A. L. Gourlay; Assistant P.S., Bro George Woods: P.G. Bros E. Kinsman and T. Flumridge were elected members of the Hall Committee. One candidate was initiated. The adjourned summoned meeting of the Lodge was held on Monday. The installation of officers was proceeded with, P.G.s Bros D. Harris and S. Griffiths acting as conductors, andL.M. Bro A. A. "Whitelaw, G.M., giving thecharge. The new officers, having thanked the Lodge for the honour done them, took their seats. The following were elected for the minor offices for the term : — E.S. to KG.. Bro F. J. Caterer} P.V.G.; L.S. toN.G., Bro Patterson; R.S. to V.G., Bro W. Murray; L.S. to V.G., Bro J. E. Carey; Warden, Bro D. E. Allison; Tyler, BroW. W. Johnston. The election of Auditors resulted in P.G. Bros W. Johnstone and F. Whitbrook being elected after a very close contest. P.G. Bro D. Harris was elected as Lecturemaster for the ensuing term. It was resolved, on the motion of G.M. Bro W. J. Alpe — " That a " social " should be held about the middle of nest month," and a strong Committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements and to fix a date. A meeting of the Prebbleton Lodge, 1.0.0. F., No. 33, was held in the Lodge room on "Wednesday evening. The D.D.G.M. and his officers (accompanied by about sixteen member 3 from the Eidgely and Washington Lodges) attended for the purpose of installing the officers of the Prebbleton Lodge. The following were duly installed :— Bro Taomas Sadler N.G., Bro H. Patterson V.G., Bro G. D. Marsh Treasurer (re-elected) and Bro Hazlehurst Secretary (re-elected). The other appointments were left until next meeting. During the meeting three candidates were initiated and it was reported that three others would come forward at the next meeting. A large amount of business was transacted during the evening. The District Deputy Grand Master gave a very interesting address, and said he was glad to see the Lodge in such a flourishing state. Although tho expenses during the last twelve months had been the heaviest since the Lodge started, he was glad to see the Lodge in a sound financial position. He could see by the bank book that there was a sum of X274 10a to the credit of the Lodge. This looked healthy with the fact that the membership was increasing. Supper was subsequently partaken of by all present. A meeting of P.G.s in the North Canterbury District took place at the Oddfellows' Hall, Lichfield street, on Thursday evening, for the purpose of establishing a Past Grands'_ Lodge. Prov. G.M. Bro H. E. Morgan presided. It was decided that a Lodge of P.G.'b should be opened. P.P.G.M. Bro Thomas Kent, as the oldest past District officer, was unanimously elected President, P.P.G.M. Bro E. Manks VicePresident, PPGM. Bro J. A. Clarke Secretary, and P.P.G.M. J. Guntrip Treasurer. Among those present were visiting Broß from Lyttelton, viz., P.P.G.M.'s Dimond and H. W. Baker, and P.G.s Frederick Childs, Toomey, Eames and Lurch, who all became members of the Lodge. It was agreed that meetings should be held on the first Thursday in each month, the next meeting to be held ab the Benevolent Lodge room. Votes of thanks to the Chairman and visitors closed the gathering.
