LYTTELTON REGATTA. 1891.
The arrangements for the holding of Ly ttelton's red-letter day, are well forward. The Committee met last evening, when a considerable amount of business was disposed of. The tender of the Lyttelton Garrison Band was accepted, it being the lowest. The Commodore, Mr. J. B. Milsom, stated that he intended to present the Committee with two gold medals as a prize to be added to one of the rowing races, which statement was received with applause. The collectors reported that they had Btill a large amount of subscriptions to collect, and it was decided to ask them to make an endeavour to get the whole of the money collected by next Wednesday, when a special meeting would be held to receive their reports. The Secretary stated that nothing had yet been done towards getting a flagship for the convenience of subscribers, and it was decided to move in the matter at once. The official measurer was requested to get the work of measuring the yachts done by next meeting. After appointing starters, judges and other officials, and discussing other matters connected with the regatta, the meeting adjourned.
