■ ♦ Further Disturbance. Troops in Proximity. Coal Stock Low. Coal Strike Ended. [Special to Press Association.] LONDON, March 19. The colliery owners in Lancashire and Cheshire remain obdurate, but those at Leicester are yielding to the demands of the men. Shipping at Hull is largely affected. The strike has resulted in 30,000 mill hands being thrown out of work. Coal is being retailed in London at £2 per ton. The Liverpool dockmen. are experiencing great distress. [Eecaived March 21, at noon. | A further disturbance has taken place among those on strike at Liverpool, owing to the employment of non-TJnionists. Troops have been billeted in close proximity to the docks, and have been ordered to remain there until the strike is ended. The stock of coal on hand in the districts affected by the colliers' strike is very low. The employers assert that the work at the Liverpool docks has been overtaken with the assistance of imported labourers, and that the strike is practically at an end. [Beceived tf axoh 21, at 1.15 p.m.! LONDON, March 20. Owing to the miners' strike there are half-a-million unemployed in Lancashire. Tens of thousands of cotton looms are idle. The supply of gas in the North is becoming reduced in many places. Half the Yorkshire owners have yielded. The engineers' strike is spreading to Hartlepool and Middlesborough. The coal strike has come to an end, the masters having yielded the amended terms. NEW Y.OBK, BTabch 20. The American Federation Labour Council has directed the carpenters to demand that eight hours, shall constitute a day's- work. ' It is expected that, if the carpenters are successful, other trades will follow, with similar demands.
