Native Lands Commissioner

IPEB PKEBB ABBOCIA.TION.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 2G. The office of Commissioner under tlie Native Lands Act of last session has been offered to, and will probably be accepted by, Mr W. B. Edwards, of the legal firm of Moorhouse and Edwards, in this city. The Commissioner will have all the powers of a Supreme Court Judge, and will probably fill the first vacancy on the Supreme Court Bench when Mb work as a Commissioner is completed. The works on hand may take some years to get through, but Government has thought it advisable that the post of Commissioner should be occupied by a person who has the standing of a Supreme Court Judge.
