Ba&orov Chief Secretary for Ireland, stated, that , the agitators in Ireland had redoubjad their efforts in inciting people to refuse- to pay rent, Ac., because tsrime was fast" decreasing. Rurms which, had : been boycotted w^mnow^e-tet, aud trade and railway traffic; wer a improving. Mr Balfour stated that he most distinctly declined to extend any favour to political prisoners, as they were more deeervinf ,of punishment than those 'whom they made dupes. In the House, of Commons to-day, Mr John Morley moved an amendment to ■ the Address-in-Reply, of which he had previously given notice. In his amendment, Mr Morley urges thsfcopooHstory measures with regard to Irish a#Ava should be adopted by the government. ...„—.■'■
