Seizure of Smuggled Tobacco.

o [Per Pbsss Association.] OAMAEU, Jan. 6. Detective O'Brien on Saturday made a seizure of abonb half a ton of tobacco, on which duty had not been paid. The tobacco was consigned by rail to a tobacconist here, and part oil it had been removed from the railway Btation when the seizure was made. The police, however, have all tho tobacco in their possession now. The tobacco must have been smuggled ashore at Port Chalmers, or somewhere near that place.
