EXTRAORDINARY ' CHARGES AGAINST AN AMBASSADOR. RELEASE OF PROFESSOR GEFFCHEN. [Special to Peess AssociiTioNiJ ' BERLIN, Jam. «.'" The Cologne Gazette having pub. lished an article to the effect that Sir ■ Robert B. D. Morier, the present British Ambassador at St Petersburg, •when Secretary of Legation to the : Kingdom of Wurtemberg, during: the Franco-Prussian -war, betrayed the ; movements of the German army to the French, Sir R. Morier wrote to Count Herbert Bismarck indignantly : denyingthe statement, and characterising it as an infamous libel. He also requested the German Foreign Minister to order that a contradiction! shonld be published in the official organs. Count Herbert Bismarck declined to accede to this request, whereupon Sir R. Morier published the correspondence. The Cologk* Gazette published another article, in which it declares that the information was given by the late Marshal Bazaine to a military attache* at Madrid. 10ND0N, Jah. 4.
