ITALY.

A sensation has been caused in Borne by | f the refusal of the Pope to bless a number 1

of medajs and relics sent to him by Irish priests for the Papal benediction before distribution in Ireland. In refusing to perform the act, the Pope sternly said, " I cannot bless them. The people of Ireland are disobedient ; they seem to prefer the gospel of Dillon and O'Brien to the Gospel of Jesus Christ." It; was officially announced, on Dec 13, that the Pope never intended to leave Home. It is announced that a large popular penny paper is to be started in Italy, to enlighten the lower classes in regard to the Papacy. The leading articles will be written in the Vatican.
