South Canterbury Athletic Meeting.

♦ SECOND DAT. [Spbcial to the "Stab."] TIMAEU, Mat 6. For the South Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club's second day, the weather had a threatening appearance early in the morning, but is now fine. The attendance is very fair, most of the leading residents in. the district being present. Messrs Oeorge Rhodes and Donkin drove out four-in-hands, and Mr John Rutherford handled the ribbons of a six-in-hand. The first event on the card was

A. H. Johnston, J. Stephenson, E. Smithson, C. H. Hamilton, and W. B. Craig also started. Ford led over the first hurdle, bat fell at the. second. Delamain then. took the lead and was not afterwards headed, winning easily from Ford, who ran ia & game style. Time— 2ofsec. Vaulting.

Henry Le Cren also started, and cut out the running for his brother for a quarter of a mile, when Griereon collared him, and took the lead at the back of the track. Prom thence out he was never headed, and won a pretty race by two yards from Wood, Herbert Le Cren a good third. Time — smin l|sec.

H. A. Le Cren, sft 9in 1 F. Ford, sft Sin 2 C. H. Hamilton also vaulted. Le Cren's style of vaulting elicitpd much applause. One Mile Race.
