CHRISTCHTJRCH. This Day. (Before J. OlHvier, Esq., R.M., and R. Westenra, Esq.) Drunkenness. — Thomas Lake, alias Roundtroe, was iined £2, or three days' imprisonment in default of payment, for this offence. CIVIL CASES. Defaults. — Judgment was given for plaintiffs by default in each of the following cases with costs : — lnglis v. Fleming, claim JEB 12a dd ; Bull v. Napier, claim £4> ss ; Saunders v. Brown, claim 10s ; Nathan v. Fowler, claim .£7 10b. Miscellaneous. — Warren v. Angwin, claim £5, balance due for board and lodging. There wtis a cross action, in which .£lO 18s was claimed for money lent. Mr Corr appeared for Warren, and Mr Stringer for Angwin. Judgment was given for Warren for tho amount claimed, and against Angwin in the cross action. — Smart v. Kingsbeer, claim .£l4 12s, being .£8 12s money paid under compulsion, and .£G damages for being deprived of the use of a trolly. Mr M'Connel for plaintiff; Mr Stringer for defendant. Plaintiff s.iid that defendant had built for him a trolly to be used in moving houses, plaintiff finding most of the materials. After delivery had been given the trolly on its first journey was damaged .and taken back to defendant for repairs. Plaintiff had not then paid for it, and defendant would not return it till plaintiff paid ,£l3 12s ; this amount plaintiff paid under protest, as he considered £5 a fair amount for what defendant had done, and he now sued for the difference, .£8 12s, and £(j damages for detention.
