Release of the Misero's Crew.
[Keutee's Telegrams.] LONDON, Sept. 15. Telegrams from Penang state tliat tho crew of the steamship Nisero, who, for several months past, have been held in bondage by the Rajah of Tenom, have been released, and arrived njf Penang. Sir E. B. Malet, late British Minister at Cairo, has been appointed British Ambassador to the Imperial G-ennaii Court, vice the late Lord Ampthill. PARIS, Sept. 14. A despatch from China states that twelve companies of marines have been withdrawn from Tonquin aud joined Admiral Courbefg fleet for service against the Chinese. EOME, Sept. 14. The Emperors and Chancellors of Germany, Austria, and Russia will meet to-day. Tlie funeral of Denis Duggan, the rescuer of political prisoners "at Freemantle, was attended by thousands of people. [Reuter's Telegrams.] MELBOURNE, Sept. 15. Mauritius advices are to hand to August 22. Messrs Ireland, Fraser and Co. report under that date as follows : — Accounts of the sugar cane crop are favourable. Harvest operations are progressing rapidly, but arrivals of sugar are slow. The market for freights is dull. Rates of exchange on Australia and New Zealand are unaltered. SYDNEY, Sept. 15. A meeting was held this evening for the purpose of arranging a second match between Beach and Hanlan, but without success, as Beach had already made arrangements to row a match with Clifford for the championship of the world. The meeting was postponed for a week in order to get Clifford's sanction to cancel the match between himself and Beach, and enable the latter to make further arrangements with Hanlan. [Per Press Association.] MARTON, Sept. 15. A Maori was drowned whilst attempting to ride across the Rangitikei river on Saturday. His horse escaped.
