What Are They ?

TO THE EDITOR OP TEE STAR. Sir, — Your contemporary, the Press, in this morning's issue, has inserted a short local containing au account of a church parade of the Ashburton Volunteers. The paragraph concludes with the following sentence : — " The incumbent, the Rev Edward Scoct, delivered an impressive discourse 'On the duties of a soldier to a crowded congregation.' " Now, really this is too bad. The Press ought to have given its readers some little notion as to what the Rev Mr Scott considers to be the duties of a soldier to a crowded congregation. This branch of a soldier's duties has never been properly discuosed. We want light thrown on it. — I am, &c, A DISAPPOINTED READER.
