THE DUNEDIN HERALD ON MR STOUT.
DUNEDIN., Sept. 3. The Herald thinks that Mr Stout has the ball at his feet, and that no man alive knows how- to kick it better- It proceeds to say : — " We are not afraid of his being too obstinate in desiring to have all his own way. On the contrary, we are just a little anxious lest he should find it necessary to give way too much. Mr Stout, unless he makes a thorough mess in selecting his colleagues, is safe of office for- twelve months at any rate ; and every Liberal has reason to rejoice. A brighter day never dawned for Otago than when the members of the Assembly found out that in Mr Stout they had a leader, almost a master, a head and shoulders taller than any other member. We warn recalcitrant supporters that the alternative now before them is a staunch support of Mr Stout, or a dissolution. If they are willing to face the latter, they can turn Mr Stout out again, not otherwise."
