Last evening a cab belonging to Mr Thomas Howe broke down in Barbadoes street North, near the cemetery. One of the wheels came off and the vehicle fell over on its side, but fortunately no farther damage was done. The cab having been left lying near the road till this morning, was the cause of some speculation among passers by, many of whom imagined that a Berioua accident must have taken place. At noon to-day, a horse harnessed in a carrier's cart, belonging to Mr John Gallagher, Kilmore street, while feeding in its master's yard took fright, it is believed on acoount of its noßebag slipping, and bolted out of the yard, carrying away the gate in its courae. It went over Colombo street bridge, but was stopped in front of the Golden Fleece Hotel. The animal hurt one of its forelegs, but the cart was not much injured. About 10 o'clock this morning a horse at* taohed to a hansom cab belonging to Mr T. Hughes bolted from Col Hub' Hotel, and pro ceedod along Hereford street towards Oxford terrnco. Several persons tried to stop it en route, but it wai not brought to a stand until it had gone some distance along Oxford terrace. Fortunately no damage of any kind was done. An accident ocourred yesterday afternoon on board the barque West Biding to a Mr John Dempsie. While assisting to load that vessel a chain hook struck him on tho hoad, inflicting a nasty wound about two and a- half inches long and causing a considerable loan of blood. Ho was taken to Mr Parsons' chemiat chop, where the wound was drossod, and he recovered sufficiently to go home. Mr A. Ivory, of Eangtora, mot with a serious accident yesterday afternoon. It appears that he went, iv com* pany with a fow friends, for an afternoon' t shooting in the Loburn district. A short distance from Loburn the company dispersed, leaving Mr Ivory in his buggy. He, aocording to his own account, was standing up, when hia gun, which viis leaning against the seat of tho buggy, fell and exploded, tho chargo pneaicg through tho flashy part of hia right thigh, inflicting a large wound. Mr W. A. Burt, one of tho party, went to Mr Ivorj's assistance, and quickly drove him home, a distance of about, six miles. Another of tho pirty rodo on to summon medical aid, and on the sufferer's arrival ab Hangiora Dr Downes was iv immediate attendance. After making an examination ho prououucod tho wound to be, although serious, not ono to cause any apprehension. Tho greater part of the flesh at the back of tho thigh was carried away, but tho sinews were fortunatoly not irijurcd. Laat orening a man named Alexander Milne wa3 admitted to the hospital suffering from injuries to the Vr>c*, caused by a fall from a dray at Burnh ■ Yesterday afternoon shortly beforo four o'clock, at the corner of Hereford and Montreal streets, a horse bolted with a dray loaded with a heavy plough. A man who was in tho dray and had tho reins in his haeds, endeavoured for a brief timo to get the animal under control, but though he seemed likoly to bo about to succeed, he gavo up the attempt and managed to aavo himself by dropping over the tail-board, sustaining no other injury than bruising his shin. Having thus secured his owh Bafety, he leisurely followed tho horse and dray, which ropidly disappeared towards the South Town Belt.
