The monthly meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors was held yesterday afternoon ; present —Mr W. Mont* gomery (Ohairman), the Most Bey the Primate, the Hon B. O. J. Btevena, Messrs J. D. Enys, P. de 0. Malet, W. Beeves, T. W. Maude, and H. J. Tanored. COLLEGE COMMITTBB BBFOBT. The Ohairman read the following :— " (1.) The Committee reports the appoint* ment of Mr W. Izard, 8.A., as law Lecturer for 1883. (2.) Also the appointment of Miss Cambridge, Miss Grossmann and Miss Pike as assistant teaohers at the Girls' High School. (3.) The Committee reports that a tender haß been accepted for the ereotion of the drill-shed at the Boys' High School at a ooßt of £105 10s. (4.) The Committee having carefully considered the letter dated Jan. 13, from the Head Master of the Boys' High School, tendering his resignation, recommends the Board to aocept the resignation ; and further recommends that the Committee be authorised to take the necessary steps to en* gage a head master on the same terms as the present head master was engaged. (5.) The Committee recommends the Board to accept the resignation of Messrs Ohilton and Watson, masters at the Boys' High School. (6.) The Committee recommend the Board to appoint Messrs T. P. Arnold and F. D. Fergußßon assistant masters at the Boys' High School, at salaries of £225 per annum each."

Mr Tanored moved — "That the fourth paragraph of the College Committee's report be adopted." Mr Malet seconded the motion.

The Hon B. C. J. Stevens thought it inconvenient that any intimation of the acceptance of a resignation by the Committee should be made to the person resigning, until the matter had been determined on by the Board.

Mr Beevos quite agreed with the remarks of the Hon B. C. J. Stevens. The praotice made it almost impossible for the Board to consider a resignation.

The Chairman thought that there was a good deal of foroe in what had been said. He was sure the Committee would receive the suggestion as one to whioh great attention should be paid. The Hon E. C. J. Stevens hoped that the Committee would endeavour to find in the Colonies a suitable man to fill the position of head master.

The Chairman said the Committee would try to secure a head master in the Colonies, before sending Home. There would be ample time.

'J he motion was carried unanimously. After transacting some business of an administrative character, the Board ad* journed.
