WESLEYAN CHURCH, DURHAM STREET.

Tho quarterly meeting of the office-bearers of the Durham Btreet circuit, was .held in the schoolroom on Monday evening. The Rev A. Beid, Superintendent of the circuit, occupied tho chair. Tho number of church members reported by tho Chairman, although somewhat lees than that of the previous quarter, Bhowed an increase for the year of 120. Thero had also been a gratifying iucreaso in the number of Sunday scholars. The financial statement presented by the circuit stewards was a most satisfactory one. It showed that tho total iucome for. the quarter (including a credit balance of £153 15s 8d) was £571 4s 7d, and tho expenditure (including £35 granted to connexional funds, £55 to the Home mission fund, and £70 to the various trust funds), £343 12s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £227 12s 3d. Of this amount an additional sum of £19 was voted to the Wosleyan Churoh trust, and £25 towards the expenses of ministers coming from England, thus leaving in the hands of the Stewards a balance of £183 12s 3d, whioh will be devoted to the furnishing of the new parsonage on the East Belt. On the motion of Mr W. Harris it was resolved that a statement of the income and expenditure of the various Church trusts be procured and laid before the next meeting, in order that grants may be voted according to the requirements of each. • Messrs B. 0. Mouldey and N. Martin, the retiring circuit stewards, were nominated for re-election by the Chairman, who spoke of the deep interest they had taken in the affairs of the Church and the energy they had displayed during their term of office, and the nomination .vas unanimously accepted by the meeting. According to the rules of tho Ohuroh, the Revs A. Beid and W. Baumber, having com* plsted their three years' term of ministerial servico in this city, are about to be removed, the former to Auckland and the latter to Wellington

It was unanimously resolved that the sinoero and hearty thanks of the meeting be accorded them for their very efficient services during the past three years. Ihe resolution was supported by Messrs Mouldey, Harris, Butland, Hall, Isitt, Gibson, Wright, and others, who spoke of the great benefits they had personally received from their ablo and faithful ministrations, and also of the cheering success which in every department of Church work had attended their labours.

The Revs A. Reid and W. Baumber suitably replied, thanking the office-bearers for their constant kindness and willing co operation, and wishing for the circuit a future of still greater prosperity. It was stated that on Sunday next the present ministers would conduct their last public services, and that advantage would be taken of the Sunday School anniversary tea, to be held on Monday evening next, in connection with the Wesleyan Ohurch, East Belt, to bid them farewell. Their successors, the Revs E. Best and W. Tiasley are expected bo enter upon their duties on Sunday, April 9. Other business having been transacted, the meoting was closed with singing and prayer.
