This Board met on Monday, when there were present — Mpbbtb Peryman (Chairman), Overton, W. Thompson and Henley. — The Surveyor's report was received and adopted. — The Chairman then stated that he had obtained £50 supplementary grant for drainage purposes from the County Council. — The Olerk wos instructed to give notico of the Board's indention at its next meeting, on Jul;,- 4, to levy a rato of Id in tho £ for the year ending March 31, 1882, on all rateable property in that portion of the south Waimakariri river district, which was comprised in the Lincoln -road district ; rate to become payable on July 8 next. — An application was received on behalf of a widow, for remission of rates, whioh was granted. — Mr R. B. Marshal applied by letter for the appointment of Pound' keeper in place of Mr Rosser. Tho Clerk was directed to reply that the Board bad no intentior whatever of terminating the existing arrange ments with Mr Rosser, especially as he hai always performed his duty as poundkeeper t( the entire satisfaction of the Board. A lettei was read from the Springs Road Board ii reference to the maintenance of the Ellesmer< Junction road for 1880 ; also containing resolution of that Board in reference to th< futuro maintenance of the boundary roads It was resolved-- " That this Board, having ii view the sub-division of the district intc wardß, tho consideration of the future main tenance of the boundary roads be deferred until January next." — Mr Burbery applied b] letter for a new stove for the cottage occupiec by bim at Lincoln. It was decided to allow Mr Burbery 25s for a stove, on the under standing that he properly fixed it a his own cost, and that when he gave uj possession of tho house, the stove to be left there aB fixed. — Mr James Nolan applied fo: a reduction of rent, which was granted.— Instructions were given to purchase neces sary timber for planking a portion of Davie'i drain ; to deepen ditch as requested by Mi J. Gallagher ; and to fill up -heehan's Gully — It was decided to call for tenders for th< formation of about 67 chains of Larcombe'i Road, and 47 chains of Neil's Road, and fo] the fencing in of Reserve 955 at Weeden tenders to be sent in by next Board day.— The Clerk w?»s instructed to serve gorsi notices at onco, and to take steps to enforci the Act having reference to gorse growing oi the publio roads, when necessary. — It wai resolved — "That this district be subdivided into five (5) wards, as delineated on the map of the distriot, prepared by Mi Davies, and that the following members ol the present Board be appointed for eacl separate subdivision for the current year :— No. 1 Ward, William Thompson ; No. 5 Ward, John William Overton ; No. 3 Ward Patrick Henley; No. 4 Ward, James Maßkrey and No. 5 Ward, Henry William Peryman and thab a petition in accordance with thi Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872, be pre sented to his Excellency the Governor, pray ing that the desire of the Board may b< carried into effect." It was decided to call t public meeting of the ratepayers for July < next, at 12 o'clock noon, for the Consideratioi of the following business : — l. The bringing of the provisions of the Local Elections Act 1876, into force within the district ; and (2) to consider the advisability of taking steps t( close certain roads in the district, and oi selling the same.— Other matters, of minoi importance, having been transacted, and thi pay-sheet passed, the Board adjourned.
