KAITANGATA FETE COMMITTEE.

The final meeting of tho sub-committee, in connection with tho lato fete for tho bonefit of the Kaitangata Relief Fund was held at tho Council Chambers last evening. Present — Moßsrs Ick, W. Pratt, Hulberfc, C. Coombs, and W. H. Smith, hon. secretary. Tlio minutes of last meeting having been diaposod of, the secretary and treasurer presented their reportß, which woro of a very satisfactory character. Tho accounts bliowcd that a sum of £705 14s would bo available for transmission to tho Chairman of tlio Central Relief Committee in Dunedin. Opinions woro oxproßßed on the subject of the lato resolution of tho City Council, aB to handing over the funds to tho Central Committee. Tho apeakors strongly condemned tho action of the Council, which had nothing whatever to do with tho proceeds of tho fete. Tho following resolution, proposed by Mr Hulberfc and seconded by Mr Coomb?, waa agreed to:— "That tho Chairman, C. T. Ick, Esq., and the Treasurer, W. Pratt, Esq., bo authorised to forward to tho Chairman of the Dunedin Central Committeo \ fche amount of £705 14s, being fcho nett procoeds realised at tlio late fete for the benefit of the Kaitangata Relief Fund, and that tho samo be forwarded without the reservation embodied in a resolution of tho City Council, passed on Monday, April 7." Affcer somo conversation as to tho very satisfactory results which had beon attained by tho fete, tho Committeo adjourned sine die.
