TIMARU.

[SPBCIAL.J

April 16,

Tho paragraph which appeared in the Dunedin papers, that tho rowdy affair by the Volunteers in Dunedin last night waa led by the Timaru officers in red jackets, is utterly untrue, as the only Timaru officers there were the Artillery, who were dreßsod entirely in blue, with white facings. Tho Volunteers here are very indignant about the mattor, and declaro that thoy will never attend an outside demonstration again if their officers aro to bo maligned in this way. It is probable thoy will lay the matter before the Defence Minister, and ask for an investigation. Afessrs Scaly and G. Clulee have been elected to the vacant seats in the Goraldino County Council.

The Borough Council passed a resolution last night favouring the removal of the seat of Government to Christchurch.
